| Because an extra compressor blade would add weight.. Even though the compressor wheel is relatively small.. the rotational weight is rotational mass x three. Checking my 28RS with a 2530.. they both have 6 "twin blade" compressor wheels and both use the NS-111 9-blade turbine wheels. I believe the difference in efficiency and responsiveness is due to the compressor housing and turbine housings. The compressor housing is designed a little better than OUR native T04b 3" inlet compressor housings before they are modified for a bolt on application. If you look at the angle of entry for the GT28RS's inlets.. it is sharp compared to the 2530.. even with the modifications done for a bolt on kit. I had my compressor housings custom machined by Mike Smith and the angle of the inlets are very smooth and tapered.. along with using a silicone coupler and his cast aluminum inlet pipes. This coupled with how my intake (vacuum) side is setup. The lag will be minimized to the max. I noticed that with my intake side modified the way I did it.. the car required an AFC to change the parameters on the "DEC AIR" section of the device because when larger (particularly ball-bearing turbos are used.. and letting off from a high rev.. the car will want to stall because the turbos are pulling in so much air, compared to the fuel ratio. I did not have to use this section on the AFC before my intake modification. Showing, the stock intake tract, even with BB turbos.. is very restrictive. So, the small difference in turbulence that the RS compressor housings supply vs. the smoother 2530's.. will show on the dyno and in responsive-ness. In addtion to that, the turbine housing has a smaller a/r. Causing a little faster spool up, while not sacrificing top end power because the a/r difference is so small it doesn't hurt top end performace. It is my opinion that even the .64 exhaust turbine housing A/R is still a little large for our 1.5 liters of displacement that is getting fed at the turbo.. I believe the HKS 2530 has a .63 A/R? and the GT28RS that we all like to use is the .64 A/R.
NO, This picture is not photoshopped. It took many times to take this picture. Setting up the timer, shutter speed etc, then jumping on my bike and getting the tire to spin.
